Born under mysterious circumstances in a sleepy Midwest town, Scott
displayed a keen intellect, probing curiosity, and a remarkable
aptitude for music early on; he was already beginning to teach himself
the piano when enrolled in private lessons at age six. Four years
later, he picked up the guitar, and from there it was no looking
back.
Music has remained the one constant throughout his life's journey,
which has covered vast areas both geographically and conceptually.
After his military service and a decade of performing in the Pacific
Northwest, Scott returned to the Midwest and continued his studies
and work; awaiting with growing impatience the next stage of his
personal evolution.
This came in 2002, when he crossed paths with Guitar
Craft, a school founded and led by King Crimson guitarist Robert
Fripp. This meeting had a profound impact on Scott, and his association
with GC continues to drive and inspire his work, life, and personal
growth. The two year Work in Progress project was a direct
outgrowth of this, being Scott's own explorations within the Tuning
the Air model pioneered by the Guitar Circle of Seattle - in
many ways coming full circle himself.
Following a brief hiatus, Scott returned to the stage with the Burnt
Mill Band, simultaneously drawing on his years of experience
and broadening his palette, applying the principles of Guitar Craft
in some unusual new areas, including American roots music. He is
presently doing occasional freelance work, while focusing on writing
for a possible original project.
Scott currently resides in Charlottesville, Virginia with his wife
Ann and their cat, Dogbert.
